In 1997, Ares Management LLC was founded by a veteran team of investment professionals to pursue capital markets activities in leveraged loans and high yield bonds.

After becoming an independent firm in 2002, Ares Management strategically established the Private Equity Group in 2003 and the Private Debt Group in 2004 to complement the original Capital Markets Group. These steps were taken in order to capitalize on its senior professionals’ deep middle market experience in all of these investment classes.

Ares Management has enjoyed significant growth, which is a testament to the firm’s history of proven results and high quality investor base. The firm’s investors include large pension funds, university endowments, sovereign wealth funds, banks, insurance companies and high net worth individuals. Today, Ares Management is one of the largest leveraged loan purchasers and diversified asset managers in the United States.
